6 Words Every Mom Should Hear...
Every mom I know is, in some way, fighting the fight to live up to expectations!
Whether their her own expectations or someone else's....
I know I am always looking around my house at piles of clutter or half done projects with a sentence that almost always starts with "I wish I (fill in the blank)!
I often find myself feeling like "The Worlds Okayest Mom!"
.....until something like this happens!
It was December 31st and we were having our annual kid-friendly New Years Eve party.
We have to families that come over and spend the night!
It's 6 adults and 8 kids under 8 and so all the grown ups know to help themselves around the house.
At one point, one of the other mom's turns to me and says, "Are your cabinets always this organized?"
I laughed!
And I thought...well, I guess so....yeah!
I mean I didn't just clean the cabinet out because I knew we were having guests!!!
(Which wouldn't be unheard of for other household chores!)
And I said to myself (and out loud)...
Every mom should hear these 6 words!
Are....Your.....Cabinets....Always....This....Organized?!?!?
(Or something equally as arbitrary and yet complimentary!)
The mom that spoke these words does thousands of things better than me! She's got adorable style! Her house always has professional, up to date pictures of the kids! She's a great cook! I could go on and on!
And yet her being impressed by my cabinet made all ok in the world!
I may just be "The World's Okayest Mom!"
But now, when I reach for a coffee mug, I think....
"Well, I think I might be doing something right!"
Next time your at a friends house, find something you find impressive!
Make it genuine....but find something!
And leave that mom feeling wonderful!
